Weekly News, Feb. 28th

We hope that you are enjoying our weekly news feature, and we will continue to share some of the things we have been reading throughout the week in hopes that you will find them useful. They will mostly, but not always, be USANA-related items covering health, nutrition and business.

Congratulations to Team USANA’s Winter Olympic athletes. These incredible athletes from all over the world choose to trust their health to USANA, and they had a tremendous showing at the Olympics.

A good article on how to get fit in minutes a week. The article goes into high intensity interval training (HIIT), which isn’t easy, but if you’ve ever said “I just don’t have enough time to work out,” then this technique might be for you.

February was Heart Health Month, and not better way to close it out than this article from USANA detailing proper nutrition and nutrients for optimal heart health.

Resiliency has shown to be the number one determinant of success. Are you resilient? Here are 4 Habits of the Most Resilient People.

Could this be the secret to happiness? Dr. Martin Seligman has done extensive research on happiness, and has found that more than anything else, cultivating a sense of gratitude, can increase well-being and lower depression. Dr. Seligman suggests a couple of exercises. I have been doing the “Three Blessings” exercise and have found it really puts my day in perspective. I urge you to try it. In Dr. Seligman’s words:

We think too much about what goes wrong and not enough about what goes right in our lives. Of course, sometimes it makes sense to analyze bad events so that we can learn from them and avoid them in the future. However, people tend to spend more time thinking about what is bad in life than is helpful. Worse, this focus on negative events sets us up for anxiety and depression. One way to keep this from happening is to get better at thinking about and savoring what went well.

Dr. Seligman also recommends an exercise called the “Gratitude Visit,” which you can see in this touching video. I hope you take the chance to try one or both of these exercises. You will be amazed at the results.

Have a great weekend.
